Metsik Toit arranges specialty dinners and small scale catering events to introduce the delicious potential of wild food around us.
By playing with the flavours, aromas and textures of wild plants as well as using ancient food preparation techniques, such as fermentation, our approach to the prepared food is somewhat unconventional, yet at the same time delicious and not overly complicated.
Here is a small overview of some of the food experience projects we have previously made
10 years of anthropology in Tallinn University
To celebrate 10 years of anthropology in Tallinn university, we developed a special appetizer menu, inspired by Estonian wild foods, the festive atmosphere and spring vibes. Nettle, ground elder, ramson, primula blossoms… these were just some of the wild products present in our offered menu full of appealing textures, colours and tastes.
The opening of Welement factory
For the opening of the modern prefabricated timber construction factory Welement, we prepared welcome drinks and appetizers inspired by fresh wild food and quality products from the area. When creating the food for the event, we wished to emphasise Welement’s inevitable connection with its raw material and the latter’s place of origin - the wood, the forest and the nature. Thus among others, ramson, linden and black currant leaves as well as moss and spruce sprouts were used to create a memorable gastronomic experience for the guests.
Publishing house Koolibri annual author’s party
For the annual party of the Koolibri publishing house that pays tribute to the contributing authors of Koolibri publications, we created a refreshing summery welcoming drink. The sparkling and invigorating lemon balm, peppermint and lemon thyme kombucha proposed as a great non-alcoholic alternative to a more traditional welcoming drink.
